Shiny Disco Balls

As my loverly friend Nicole has already pointed out in a previous blog entry, amongst many others to date: SEQUINS IS IN.

I do enjoy watching this trend evolve into something more refined.

Isaac Mizrahi Spring 2010 Ready-to-wear from style.com

From the way Isaac Mizrahi has made the look a little more classy and sophisticated, with the muted colouring and the simple silohuette, while at the same time giving it a little more sass with the shiny, textured bottom.

Proenza Schouler Spring 2010 Ready to wear from Style.com

...to the way Proenza Schouler has taken it to a whole other level, with their use of amazing colours and animal inspired prints.

Leaving me to believe one thing....sequins are here to stay.
and I'm okay with that.

Cheers,
Mara

Did you miss us?

We're back, refreshed and relaxed and ready to get back at it...

Well, all I got to say is... what a trip, literally and figuratively. Couple of firsts happened on this trip. The first first  is that whilst in the ocean we would get swarmed by these beautiful tropical yellow and black fishe-y's that would actually eat the bread right out of our hands, it was pretty freaking fantastic.

Second first, is that I have never in my whole 27 almost 28 years of existence seen this much rain pour down from the skies. It rained 3 days straight, and when I say straight I mean non-stop pouring. I mean the ground couldn't even handle the amount of rain that poured down on it. Now I'm not going to say that it ruined our trip, 'cuz it didn't (that would be impossible), I'd say in fact it made it more special, if that makes sense?  Because for as long as I live I will never forget this trip for the way it made us really get to know each other, dare I say more then anybody should know each other (nothing was off limits with this group), and I'm extremely thankful I was there with friends who made the best out of it too.

This picture doesn't even do it justice.

Thirdly, we felt the after effects of the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti, and I wish I didn't. Its unbelievably horrible what has happened there, and I think about it every day all the time. I wonder though if I hadn't been so close to it would I have put my blinders on and not even cared about the traumatic event that took place? Would I have changed the channel and pretend it didn't happen. I hope to think that I wouldn't, I would hope to think that I would have looked above and beyond my own bubble and taken notice of the tragedy that has effected so many lives and more devastatingly, so many children. It is heart wrenching. And though I don't have much to give, I think this is one of those causes that far out-weigh my financial status. I will give what I can. Because I can be enthralled all I want, but this is one of those times that looking at the pictures and paying attention to the reports are not merely enough, if there is anyway I can help out, I will.

On a less serious note, I'm glad to be back, because reality for me isn't really that bad ( I could do without working, but that's neither here nor there). More importantly, there is a lot of ideas I have in my head that Im excited to trasalate on our blog with the hopes that you'll keep reading.

Ciao for now!

Puerto Plata or bust!

I know, I know, we've been horrible bloggers lately, what with all the commotion of the holidays finally winding down and most importantly our trip to Puerto Plata coming around the corner! Our blogging has taken a back seat as we've been busy trying to fit ourselves into bikini's and trying to make it look good! So in just a little over 24 hours we'll be up in a plane kissing this shitty canadian weather goodbye for a whole week!  Seeing as this is Betty and Veronica's first trip together we are uber stoked for all the adventure that is going to come our way.

While we are lying on the beach we'll be thinking of awesome new blog spots to throw at ya, so please stay tuned!

Bon Voyage!

Cheers,

Happy New Year!!!

Here is to an awesome 2009 and an even better 2010!!!

Had an amazing night with our amazing friends.

First we went to the keg....

Mmmmm...the Keg.

Then we went to a friends house party where a bunch of undocumented shit went down which in my books = an awesome party.

I can't believe I forgot to take a picture of my new shoes from Aldo that I bought for uber cheap to go with my even cheaper outfit I bought in the states, but I found the shoes here on the Aldo website.

Me Likey.

So here is to an epic 2010 from "Betty and Veronica" aka Mara and Nicole.

Hope its all you dream of and more!

Cheers,
Mara
